of course it's not simple. but the difference is if something's got a chance, then you go for it. if it's dead in the water, don't waste your time. if you gotta spend that much time rolling around in the could or should or would, then it's just a daydream. you end up just some asshole pining for something you're never gonna get. and there's your unrealistic fantasy.
